Cannot open admin dashboard

    Thanks for suggestion.
    I eventually solved:
    1) exported, downloaded the database using phpMyAdmin
    2) imported, uploaded an older sql database using phpMyAdmin
    3) checked the site that started working fine
    4) imported, uploaded the database i downloaded at point 1 using phpMyAdmin

    Now I can enter admin screen and the site is running fine.

    So it was surely a corrupted database problem.
