Cannot Remove Old Version

Since this plugin changed to the new version, I’m having an issue with updating in WordPress where when I try updating the plugin automatically, I keep getting a “cannot remove old version” error. I manually removed the old version and installed version 4.0 but the issues continued with subsequent versions.

I tried deleting the plugin and manually installing it to version 4.0.2 however even with this newer version I’m still being prompted with the error and I’d rather not keep uninstalling and re-installing and configuring over and over again.

This issue has been happening on multiple WP installs so I’m pretty sure this is a plugin and not a theme issue.
