    Hi,
I am using the free version of Jetpack on my ww.wp.xz.cn blog which is created with showit. I am trying to remove the “related posts” date at the bottom of the page. I read other forums that talked about adding code to Appearance –> Customize –> Additional CSS and I have no idea what to do from there. Everything else I have tried has not worked. Thank you!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hello @acl2011,

You can totally do it from the Related Post settings, as explained on this page:

    https://jetpack.com/support/related-posts/customize-related-posts/

Scroll down till the Hide the post date on the Related Posts session.

    Hope that answers your question!

    Hi Stef,
I don’t even know where to find or edit this code stuff. If you scroll down to the article you shared, my related posts’ section doesn’t look like this. It is blank.

“Hide the post date on the Related Posts
The appearance of Related Posts can now be changed in the customizer, by going to Appearance → Customize → Related Posts and then viewing a single post:”

Here is a link to what mine looks like:

    Hello @acl2011,

Thanks for the screenshot – that’s a good catch as the feature is supposed to show the settings mentioned in the link I shared with you.

I wonder if the theme might be conflicting with the Related Post feature: can you try to temporarily switch your theme to Twenty Twenty and see if the problem persists? You’re welcome to use the Theme Switcha plugin to do that:

    https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/theme-switcha/

This plugin lets you change themes without it affecting the way users see your site.

Look forward to your reply, and thanks in advance for your cooperation in sorting that out with me!

I am currently using the theme that comes standard because it imports it into a showit theme on my website. I downloaded the plugin Theme Switcha and I don’t really know what to do from there.

    Hi @acl2011

You can follow these instructions to use Theme Switcha:

    https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/theme-switcha/#installation

Once you have it activated, download a default WordPress theme (such as Twenty Twenty) and see if that allows you to customize the Related Posts feature.

Thanks Bob that article was helpful. I went ahead and made the requested changes. I made sure everything was up to date and that I had all updates including WordPress and jetpack. I then cleared my cache, restarted my computer, and went back in and I still nothing under related posts just like the image I showed earlier. I also immediately got an email notice from WordPress that Jetpack has had a fatal error on my site and this is the details of that.

    Error Details
    =============
An error of type E_COMPILE_ERROR was caused in line 87 of the file /nas/content/live/amyjasperson/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/vendor/jetpack-autoloader/class-php-autoloader.php. Error message: require(): Failed opening required ‘/nas/content/live/amyjasperson/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/vendor/automattic/jetpack-roles/src/class-roles.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/share/pear/php:/usr/share/php’)

Did I totally break it? My website still looks okay, thank God. And on my dashboard, I don’t see anything wrong.

    Hello @acl2011,

It sounds like you stumbled upon a bug we had in the latest version of Jetpack upon updating to 10.5 – sorry about the inconvenience! The error self-resolved, here’s why thankfully all is up and running okay at the moment 🙂

With that said, I noticed that you still have troubles with the Related Post. You confirmed that the settings to exclude the posts data didn’t appear while running a default time, is that correct? If that’s so, can you try one more troubleshooting for me? Can you please temporarily deactivate all your plugins (but Jetpack) and check if the problem gets fixed that way? If it works, then reactivate each plugin one by one to find out which one is causing problems.

If nothing comes up and you still can’t see the options in the Related Post settings, then I’d like to run some more tests with you on your site to try to figure out what’s happening. Could you contact us via this contact form and mention this thread?

Let me know how it goes!

I am having the same issue. Cannot customize related posts in standard wp theme.
