Recently logged into my site to add some content for first time in quite a while. I noticed it was showing some updates so ran them, but now when I try to log in the screen is either blank (on Safari, Firefox) or says “Server error
The website encountered an error while retrieving http://www.penuelscouts.org.uk/wordpress/wp-admin/. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly.
    Here are some suggestions:
    Reload this webpage later.
HTTP Error 500 (Internal Server Error): An unexpected condition was encountered while the server was attempting to fulfill the request.” (on Chrome).

What have I done wrong, and what can I try to put it right?

Your log in and site seem fine. Do this occur after posting the log in information?

Hi, yes – I enter my username & password and the resulting screen is as above.

Using ftp or by logging in to your hosted account and using what ever file manager they provide, rename the plugins folder.

    That’s worked, thank you!

Should I do anything else, or leave the plugin folder renamed?

Change it back to the original and then one by one turn of plugins until you find the culprit. There is a chance that all will work once you rename the folder.

Too many windows open – this was meant for a different thread.
