I’m having a very similar issue, though the opposite. I can see the text tab, but when I click it nothing happens. I’m stuck on the Visual editor.
I don’t have any plugins installed and it is a fresh (one day old) install of WordPress 3.5.1
Safari and Chrome have the same issue. Running Mountain Lion 10.8.2
Cheers
@stevenst – start your own thread, you don’t have the same problem!

It is really strange, and there are so many threads describing the same problem since 3-4 years ago since 2.7 I think with no definite solution

Thanks but in this post does not mention the inability to access the visual editor…
@yanay – if you need further help with your issue, please start your own thread.
@wpyogi – yanay IS the OP. 🙂
OH, my very BAD!! Sorry, sorry :/
@yanay – even though that particular symptom isn’t specifically mentioned, the same troubleshooting steps still apply. Even though you’ve already done them, can you do them again and post a link to your site? Deactivating all your plugins, switching to the default theme and clearing any and all caches?
If that doesn’t work, do the “reset plugins folder ” step and clear everything again.
Make sure you don’t have a caching plugin on your site or server.

You’re jumping ahead. 😉 Visual Editor problems are frequently the result of Javascript issues. The master list contains information on how to debug those.
If you want to leap ahead try
– Switching to the Twenty Twelve theme
– Deactivating all of your plugins (no exceptions)
– flushing your browser cache and cookies. Don’t skip this step after doing the other two.
If that gets back the Visual Editor then reactivate our plugins one at a time and then theme last. That may help you find where the problem is.

Ok Thanks
clearing the cache refers to the browser’s cache or is there another cache to be cleared?
How do I know which plugin is a caching plugin?
What do you mean a plugin on my server? Aren’t all plugins listed in the admin>plugin page?

The browser cache. If the Javascript files are getting munged they may be cached.

If you deactivate all of your WordPress plugins that normally takes care of it.

Yep. Visit http://your-WordPress-URL-here/wp-admin/plugins.php and you can deactivate all of your plugins from there.
