Hi, after the very recent patch to stop the “site crashing” issue (taking me to Version 14.13.3) I have a strange error, actually two!

    1) If I am logged into the WordPress admin, everything behind the scenes works. However if I go to the live site I cannot view the front page or any posts or pages _except_ those generated by a site search. Instead I get a completely blank, white screen. On checking “view page source”, there is nothing there. Nothing. At all. I have checked this on Chrome, Edge and Opera. If I log out or disable this plug-in, everything returns to normal immediately. I have asked other users of the site to check this and they are not having the same issue. I am a site admin, they are “editors”. This may be of relevance?

    2) One other user reported another issue. Again, if I disable the plug-in then this no longer happens. They try to log in and “are taken to another page asking them to reset their password.”Just takes me to the website not the word press version. I tried resetting my password and got a critical error message” (sorry, I can get more specific info if required). The error message is the “There has been a critical error on this website” one. This is on Safari.

To add – I have changed to the default theme as a trial and that made no difference.

Further addition. I created another Admin account (my login is the only admin on the site) and the new admin account has no issues browsing. The “blank page” problem seems unique to me, which is frustrating as I do about 95% of the work on the site :-/

    Hi @iainpurdie,

Since the first issue seems to affect only your account, it’s possible that caching or a conflict with another plugin — particularly one that manages user roles or capabilities — may be involved.

To help us investigate further, could you please try deactivating all other plugins and see if the issue still occurs? After that, you can reactivate the plugins one by one to check if any of them are causing a conflict with WP Statistics.

As for the second issue, could you provide a few more details? Specifically, which page are users being redirected to? If possible, a screencast would also be helpful.

You also mentioned receiving a critical error when attempting to reset your password. Could you please enable WP_DEBUG (learn more) on your site, reproduce the error, and share the generated error logs with us?

Lastly, could you confirm if you are using any user management or custom login plugins?

    Looking forward to your response.

I’ve popped the site into troubleshooting mode and enabled plugins one by one and found the issue. It’s WPStatistics and WPForms Lite. Of course this was the second last plug-in I enabled while testing! Everything is fine with every plugin going, but if I have both of these active them I get “white screen”. Disable either of them and we’re fine.

I also note that their last update was 3 days ago, possibly overlapping with your most recent update (4 days ago).

What’s odd is that 99.999% of the pages/posts I’m having issues with don’t contain any forms created with WPForms. There’s only one page with a form, though that one does indeed fail to load! WPForms also has nothing to do with user roles, which is odd as (like yourself) I thought it may have been something like Edit Flow or even wpDiscuz which could be the issue.

    Hi @iainpurdie,

Thank you very much for sharing your findings with us.

As mentioned in our previous message, could you please enable debugging and send us the error logs?
This information would be extremely helpful for us to better understand where the issue is coming from.

Additionally, when you encounter the white screen, could you please open the browser’s Inspect tool, go to the “Console” tab, and let us know if there are any error messages showing there?
If there are, kindly share them with us as well.

We truly appreciate your cooperation and look forward to resolving this issue as soon as possible.

    Best regards,
    — Mehmet

Thanks as always for getting back to me. I’m absolutely buried right now but will respond shortly with the info. Alternatively I’m investigating alternative Forms plugins as I’ve had issues with WPForms Lite in the past :-/
