I have the exact same issues when I tried to install it just now.
Hi @der_beni and @wildvanvorm
Thanks for your message and sorry to hear that you encounter some errors with our plugin.
It looks like the installation process didn’t execute on your environment.
One explanation could be some wrong file permissions.
Does your folders wp-content/uploads and wp-content/uploads/matomo are writeable?
Kind regards
Matthieu
Hi @mattmary
Thank you for your reply. I checked the uploads folder permission and it’s “read and write”. However, the matamo folder in upoads is not created after the installation of the plugin.
The errors that I get are tha same as discribed by @der_beni, except for the last one. T hve no error about the failure to detect granted permissions.
About the first error listed: there is no config.ini.php file after installation of the plugin.
Any ideas?
Best regards,
Wim
Hi @mattmary and @der_beni
I have contacted the helpdesk of my hosting company and they found that the safety plugin (in my case Defender Pro) was causing the issue. @der_beni, if you use a safety plugin, deactivate it and try re-installing Matomo. It worked for me.
Best regards
Wim
I was a bit too optimistic. The errors are gone, but it’s not working. @der_beni have a look at https://matomo.org/faq/wordpress/which-plugins-is-matomo-for-wordpress-known-to-be-not-compatible-with/ to see it any of your plugins are up there.
@mattmary In the case of Defender Pro, would the solution be theirs or for Matomo?
Hi @wildvanvorm
could you open a new topic and sharing the content of your system report

Regarding Defender pro, you have to make a choice. If you want to keep Defender pro, you still have the ability to use matomo with matomo on premise or matomo cloud.

Hi @mattmary & @wildvanvorm
In fact, I also use the Defender Pro plugin. I have deactivated it and deleted all settings. Now I can at least install Matomo as well!
I have only two Warnings left:
‘max_allowed_packet’ size in your MySQL database (16M instead of recommended 64M)
Required permissions – Failed to detect granted permissions – Please check your MySQL user has these permissions (grants):
SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, INDEX, DELETE, CREATE, DROP, ALTER, CREATE TEMPORARY TABLES, LOCK TABLES
Can I change it via php.ini or do I have to change it in the database? Is this option really necessary for Matomo to work properly? I don’t have access to these options for the database…
To be honest, I currently can’t judge if Matomo works properly. Statistics are still not displayed after more than one hour….
Here is a statement from WPMUDEV about the Defender plugin:

Update:
Matomo works! (Defender Pro still deactivated)
Hi @der_beni
Glad to here that you’ve been able to get a Matomo working.
Regarding your warnings, the first one is a configuration value of your database server.
If you have access to your database server configuration, here’s an explanation of you to update it.
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/8062496/how-to-change-max-allowed-packet-size
Otherwise, ask your hosting to do it on your own.
The second one refers to the required permissions the database user must have when using Matomo. Check in your database if your user has all the listed roles.
Kind regards
Mat
Hi @der_beni.
Have you had a chance to look at my previous comment or maybe any question around this?
hi @der_beni
Without any answer I imagine that this issue is closed.
I’ll close this support topic.
Feel free to open an new one if you still encounter some issues.
