I used to have your plugin installed but I removed it (it was creating too many things I did not need for my SEO efforts so I decided to code my things manually).
After removing your plugin I added a little line of code to my header page to add canonical tags but I am getting duplicate canonical tags in some pages.

Is it possible your plugin left some clutter somewhere causing this problem? I believe your plugin is the only one I previously had or currently have that writes canonical tags.

Do you have any suggestions as to where I can go to remove leftover code creating such tags?

BTW this problem occurs only in posts and pages but not in other types of posts (like media/attachment pages or custom post types).

    Hello @jorgonfla,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math support, and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Please note that once Rank Math is deactivated or uninstalled, all the meta and Opengraph tags are removed from your site’s source code.

However, you can follow this guide to completely remove Rank Math data upon uninstalling it:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/uninstall/

If the issue persists, then you should check your other plugins or current theme if it outputs the canonical URL on your site.

    Hope that helps.
