I am using Yoast SEO. Now I have changed a slug in one of my pages. (/vocal-coach/) In Google Console I can not index the page with the new Slug. Google takes the old page as canonical. What can I do to take care that de page with the new slug can be indexed by Google ?
I already tried to remove the page temporaly in Googel Console. But up till now nothing succeeded. Or do I have to activate in Yoast advanced the page and activate it canonical?

Hello @rgdebree,

Thanks for reaching out about your canonical URL. Can you let me know which is the new and which is the old – /vocal-coach/ or /vocalcoach/? I ask because /vocal-coach/ works while /vocalcoach/ throws a 404 error.

Thanks! I see the correct canonical URL for it: <link rel="canonical" href="https://www.veradebree.nl/vocal-coach/" />

Google takes the old page as canonical.

Can you share a screenshot of Google’s report/notification regarding that?

What I have done: I deleted URL page vocalcoach. This is now pending. Next step is indexing the new page vocal-coach. But I have to wait until the old one has ben deleted from Google URL. Herewith the report from Google.

Google Console rejected the indexation of the page /vocal-coach. I started a new Request, but I don’t know if it will succeed now. I already delete the old one. When I inspect that page Googles says the olde page can not be inspected. So therefore I hope that Google console now inspect and validate the new one. But I am not certain about it.

After 3 Attempts the Problem has been solved. First I have removed the old page through Google Console. After That I have 3 times validated the good one and now Google has changed the Canonical page to the right one.
