Can’t access Admin Dashboard | ww.wp.xz.cn

I’m having trouble accessing the Admin section of my WP site. After entering my login credentials, rather than landing on the Dashboard page, my site’s home page appears along with the Admin toolbar at the top. Clicking on any of the tools or the Dashboard menu item, I get a blank screen with the following message:

Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.

Log out and repeat, same thing.

I have a fairly recent Backup Guard backup elsewhere on my host but to use it, I’d have to delete the site entirely and try to do a Migrate, but it’s a process that I’m not comfortable doing for fear of losing something.

I can access files via my host’s cPanel but don’t know how that will help.

This is not an emergency call for help as it is a low volume private blog, but any advice on restoring it would be gratefully appreciated.

Running WP 5.8.3 but maybe 5.9

Edited to add:

I also have a plugin called Wordfence that spot problems and alerts me with emails. I just received an email that highlighted nearly 150 “unknown file in …”, similar to these first few. The bulk are in the /includes folder. Entire list available if it will be helpful.

Hopefully your site is not hacked… but the wordfence says there is something wrong.. try reload your old backup.. also one thing i can figure out is your user permission is change to subscriber…

try modifying the database according to the user.
