• Hello,

After upgrading to WP 3.5, I decided to upgrade to the latest version of my theme. This went smoothly. As I switched between my earlier theme version and the latest (multiple times), to compare, the sh#t hit the fan and I got the following error:

Warning: require(/home/content/49/7434749/html/wp-content/themes/classipress/framework/load.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/content/49/7434749/html/wp-content/themes/classipress/functions.php on line 31

Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/home/content/49/7434749/html/wp-content/themes/classipress/framework/load.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/php5/lib/php') in /home/content/49/7434749/html/wp-content/themes/classipress/functions.php on line 31

In WP dashboard, it says “ERROR: The themes directory is either empty or doesn’t exist. Please check your installation.”

I reinstalled WP 3.5. Admin panel looks fine but when I click > Appearance > Themes – I get the above again.

P.S. The dir’s are visible in my ftp.

Any advice? I have it in maintence mode now, but I was just getting a white screen.

  • Have you tried another theme?

That’s the thing, I can’t get to the Themes through appearance. I tried deleting all themes except Twenty-ten and eleven in ftp- no luck.

I fear I may have caused more damage (I know enough to be dangerous, lol) by trying a fresh install with a new DB. But my isp says path already in use. I want the install in my root (domain.com not domain.com/wordpress)

If this is a new install just install again.

Making some headway. I was able to re-install to domain.com/wp but I cannot reinstall wp to just root domain.com as my isp automated setup says: Path is already in use by another application install.

So I tried new db and wp install at domain.com/wp and everything works fine. The problem is my backup (wp complete back up by codetree) does not seem to want to backup, understandably, to the new dmain.com/wp path as when backed up, it was just domain.com. Plus, I imagine none of my permalinks would work.

My backed up files and db

I would ask the host about that. You should be able to put anything you want into the root. Automated setup? Is that for WordPress?

You should be able to do the manual install to the root. You also can go to the root with ftp or by signing in to your hosted account and using the file manager they provide.
