• Everytime I login it takes me to the homepage and there’s no admin toolbar. When I try and go on a wp-admin link it takes me to the login page again.

I’ve tried disabling plugins and tried logging in, however that didn’t work.

I know there’s a problem with my theme because I can access wp-admin when I rename my current theme to .old in file manager.

    Thanks.

So, everything else functions normally again once you disable/rename that particular theme?

Yes, the dashboard shows when I disable the theme.

When I’m using the theme logging in would take me to the homepage where there’s no toolbar at the top.

You’ve answered your own question then. The theme is the problem.
If you want to continue using that theme, you will need to contact the theme vendor or support outlet and see if there is an updated version that will work with the current version of WordPress. Is it a theme that’s available from here in the Theme Directory?

No it doesn’t appear in the directory. Could the problem have occurred as a result of some code I changed?

    Yes.

Is there any way to find out where the problem might be? I don’t want to have to replace the theme or reinstall it since I’ve made a lot of changes.

What was the last change you did to your theme?

Is there any way to find out where the problem might be?

Only if you have some idea what you might have changed.

You don’t have a current backup of the working copy from before the error popped up?

I was changing the CSS stylesheet and the header.php mainly before it stopped working. Putting in new divs, changing the navigation placement, changing the site layout etc.

I have a backup but it might have been created after the problem occurred.

Try renaming header.php and see if it works after that.

I just replaced both the css and header files with really old versions and it didn’t fix anything.

Also the exact process is, I login from the wp-login page and it takes me to my homepage where there’s no admin toolbar. So I try manually putting in the wp-admin link and it redirects me to the wp-login page. At the end of the wp-login link it say’s ‘&reauth=1’.

The only thing I’ve done recently is edit those files. Was there an update recently or something that may have caused this?

Do you have any security plugins installed?

    Thread Starter randomdude101

    (@randomdude101)

Akismet, if that counts? Thing is though I’ve already tried disabling plugins and it’s not worked.

Have you tried deleting the .htaccess file?
