    Hello.

I installed this plugin to help me get a better score in Google’s Page Speed Tools.

It helps but I’m still missing the Gzip compression. The Plugin’s dashboard says: Optimized at: 50% WARNING : GZIP NOT ACTIVATED

I’ve looked around but can’t seem to turn that option on. I just see an “Activate cache system” button.

Do I need the paid version for this…? Will this increase my Google Score?

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,

Thanks for contacting us. Here’s how Gzip compression works with WP Speed of Light.

First the plugin check if Gzip is enabled server side, which is now the case in all the major hosting providers. It’s the better option regarding performance.
If not, the plugin will add some code in your htaccess to activate it using an apache module that SHOULD be installed on your server.
3rd if it’s not possible it returns a warning message you have.

And yes it’s important that you make it works. I recommend you contact your hosting provider asking to enable Gzip using module mod_deflate (maybe this is something you can control from your Cpanel).

    Cheers,

    Hi,

Yes of course you can activate Gzip on a Nginx server using: http://nginx.org/en/docs/http/ngx_http_gzip_module.html

Can I get your website URL to check this out ?

    Cheers,
