Hello @patrickhaond and thanks for reaching out to us!

I have seen the Fatal error: require_once(): in the past when another security plugin or backup plugin was causing Wordfence to not activate.

Are you running any plugins such as those?

Let me know what you find!

    Thanks!

    Thanks for the answer.
No there is no other plugin at all…
I am working with Worpress 3.1.

That would be why it might not be working then.

We currently require WordPress 3.9 and above for compatibility.

Any reason you are using 3.1?

    Thanks!

    Thanks for the answer.
So I upgraded WordPress up to 3.9.8.
But I still can’t activate wordfence.
    The error message is.

Warning: require_once(/mywebsite/wp-content/plugins/wordfence/lib/Diff/Renderer/Html/SideBySide.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /mywebsite/wp-content/plugins/wordfence/lib/wordfenceClass.php on line 7

Now that you have upgraded, try to reinstall Wordfence. Since you haven’t been able to activate it yet, it should just be able to be done from the plugins page.

Let me know how it goes.

    Thanks!

    Thanks @wfadam for your help.
Once WordPress upgraded I was still unable to activate wordfence.
But, I deleted the plugin and install it again and it finally worked!
