Can’t add switch

I’m feeling totally lost. I’ve watched a couple of tutorials how to work Polylang and can’t get it to work.

I’ve gotten the Plugin installed, I’ve selected the languages and that’s as far as I could get.
I can’t add the language switch on my header, nor can I translate the pages, it’s just blank.

The documentation link on the setup is unavailable, and the directions I found on the website do not match my dashboard menus, I think it’s outdated.

I’m using a theme, in case that information matters.
I’m really struggling with this and would really appreaciate a functioning multi-language portfolio.
