Can't connect to wordpress.com

Hi,

I recently needed to restore my wordpress site (nothing malicious happened, just wanted to revert to prior to some changes), so I removed my entire ftp directory and reuploaded from backup and then reinstated the prior database. Ever since jetpack has been unable to initialize and is giving the following error:

Jetpack could not contact WordPress.com: register_http_request_failed. This usually means something is incorrectly configured on your web host.Operation timed out after 15000 milliseconds with 0 bytes received
