I would like to create a new page template but the Appearance > Editor appears to be missing from the Responsive Theme. Is there a way to get this back or is there another way to create page templates in Responsive Theme?

    Hi @mike_l_01 ,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

The “Editor” option is not available in the Appearance section of the Responsive Theme. However, if you’re looking for ready-made templates, you can easily access them by installing our Responsive Plus – Starter Templates plugin.

You can explore the available templates here: CyberChimps WordPress Themes.

If you need any further assistance, please feel free to reach out. We’re happy to help!

    Kind Regards,

Thank you Shantanoo. I don’t want to change the appearance of our entire website, just one section of it. I would like to have a modified version of our current template saved as a new template and applied on a page by page basis. This is normally possible with WordPress. Why would it not be possible with the Responsive theme?

    Hi @mike_l_01

We appreciate your patience and are happy to provide further clarification. To address your concerns:

    1. Theme Functionality & Customization Options
The Responsive Theme is a classic theme, which means it utilizes the WordPress Customizer for functionalities. This is why you can access customization options via Appearance > Customize. On the other hand, Block Themes (such as Twenty Twenty-Five) rely on the Gutenberg block editor, providing customization through Appearance > Editor. The functionality you’re referring to is theme-dependent and applies specifically to block themes.
    2. Creating a Custom Page Template
If you wish to create a custom page template in the Responsive Theme, kindly consider these options:
      • Creating a Child Theme: You can develop a child theme by following this official guide from WordPress:
        Child Theme Guide
      • Using the Responsive Plus – Starter Templates Plugin: This plugin also allows you to import a single page of your choice from a starter template, making customization much more effortless.
        Import a single page template.

We want to assure you that this is not an issue with the Responsive Theme but rather a difference in how classic and block themes function. If you need further assistance, please feel free to reach out—we’re happy to help!
