Can’t disable Pods plugin

    I’m attempting to deactivate and then delete the Pods plugin which isn’t being used on the site.

    But after following the normal process to deactivate the plugin it’s still listed as active.

    I guess I could just delete the plugins folder. But that may leave records in the database.

    How do I safely delete this plugin?

    I haven’t seen this particular issue happen on my side, is this on a multisite and is Pods network-activated?

    You can also try going to Pods Admin > Settings > Tools > Cleanup & Reset. Then click the “Deactivate and Delete Pods data” button to do the complete clean up and deletion. It’ll deactivate the Pods plugin for you at that point as well to make it easy.

    This is a standalone site and Pods isn’t network activated. (Not sure what that even means.)

    As far as I know Pods has never been actually used in the site.

    It may only be there because the theme recommended installation. If so could whatever triggered the recommendation also be block removal? And if so how do I override that?

    I followed up on that and disabled the entry in required plugins in the theme.

    Having done that I’ve been able to deactivate and delete the plugin.

    So – problem solved
