What happens when you try to edit a page?
when I go to that edit page, it’s white. I cannot see anything. So, I can’t edit.
However when I right click, I can view the source, and it’s there.
Thanks Steven
Errors like this are logged. Check the error log on your server. If you can’t find the log, please contact your host.
Meantime, enable wp_debug and wp_debug_log and after an error, look at wp-content/debug.log to see if anything gets logged there. https://codex.ww.wp.xz.cn/Debugging_in_WordPress
You can also try this: Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.
If you cannot access wp-admin, there are other ways to deactivate plugins.
Thanks again.
I already disabled plug ins. I am using Twenty Nineteen theme.
How do I find the error log?
Mark
The location varies from host to host, so ask your host.
Also, enable WP debugging: https://codex.ww.wp.xz.cn/Debugging_in_WordPress
Thanks Steven
I have deactivated plug ins, added the health check plug in.
I am using Twenty Nineteen theme, is that one of the default ones?
I am waiting for host company to let me know how to check the logs.
I didn’t know how to enable wp_debug and wp_debug_log .
Would reinstalling the current version of wp help?
Thanks Steven
HI there Steven
So after talking with tech support, I learned that they have updated the php.
We have discontinued the 5.6 version of php and we are now using 7.1. You will have to upgrade all your plugins and themes in WordPress to be compatible with 7.1. We have temperately reverted you back to 5.6 but this is only good for 30 days.
How do I do that?
Thanks for all your help.
Mark
OK, now make sure everything is up to date.
thanks, but looking how to update the php on wordpress. Can you send me a link pls
PHP is updated by your host. What your host told you is to make sure all WP components are up to date. Go to DASHBOARD->UPDATES
