• Posting here as it seems the latest version of WordPress has the Gutenberg editor as part of its core. I hadn’t added any content to my site in some time, but have kept it up-to-date. Today, I went to add some content and noticed the drastic change to the editor. One feature I noticed as part of the block editor is Embed.

I clicked on Embed and then pasted in the URL I wanted to embed. The initial URL was a short URL (eepurl.com) which is the short URL MailChimp gives you when you create a form. I got the error, “Sorry, we could not embed that content.” I figured maybe it was the short URL giving problems as most short URLs are just redirects. So, I went to the short URL to get the full long URL to the MailChimp form, which is a list-manage.com URL. I got the same error.

I’ve read on some posts that it can be a conflict with the theme. I’m currently using the ColorMag theme. So, I changed my active theme to Twenty Nineteen. I done a complete refresh of the editor page (Ctrl+F5) and tried the long list-manage.com URL. Still got the same error.

I then tried to embed a website of mine. This is another WordPress website. I still got the error that it couldn’t embed. It seems that the Embed feature doesn’t work at all for any URLs.
