    Hello!

I use Generator Press and Elementor (free) Page builder.

I’ve created an Elementor Blog Page: https://jennyelenihealth.com/blog

And within that, a few blog Posts. One of which is: https://jennyelenihealth.com/touch-therapy/touch-as-medicine/ You’ll see that there is no Comments section. This is the problem.

Same issue with the other posts on the Blog page – no comment section.

I have created and edited all blog posts in Elementor. However, I can’t seem to find or see how to enable the Comments section for people to comment on my posts.

I have Edited in WordPress as well to enable Comments (in ‘Discussion’).

You’ll see that on the side column that shows “Post” or “Block” with a list of edits you can do (like Status, Publish, Slug, Discussion) I have ensure that Discussion is set to “Open” (for the comments), but not working. Not sure what the problem is.

Am I missing something? Probably something super basic!

    Hope someone can help. Thanks.

    Jenny.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Elementor’s technical support. To enable your comment feature on your WordPress site, you will need to follow the next steps:

    1. Log into your WordPress Admin Dashboard
    2. Typically found at: https://yourdomain.com/wp-admin
    3. Go to: Settings → Discussion
    4. Under “Default post settings”, make sure this box is checked: Allow people to submit comments on new posts
    5. Scroll down and adjust any additional comment settings you prefer, such as whether comments must be manually approved, whether users must be logged in to comment, and the notification settings for new comments.
    6. Click “Save Changes” at the bottom.

Even if global settings allow comments, they can still be disabled for specific posts or pages. Here’s how to enable them per post:

    1. Edit a Post or Page
    2. Go to Posts → All Posts (or Pages → All Pages) and click Edit on the desired one.
    3. Find the Discussion Panel
    4. In the right sidebar, look for a panel called “Discussion”. If you don’t see it: Click the three dots (⋮) in the top-right corner. Choose “Preferences” → “Panels” → Make sure “Discussion” is toggled on.
    5. Check “Allow Comments”
    6. Update/Publish the post.

Some WordPress themes disable comments visually even if they’re enabled in settings. If comments are still not appearing:

    1. Go to Appearance → Editor (or Theme File Editor for classic themes).
    2. Check your single.php or page.php template to see if it includes: phpCopyEdit<?php comments_template(); ?>
    3. If you’re not comfortable editing code, consider switching to a theme that supports comments, or contact your theme developer.

    Hope this helps

    Hi Milos!

Thank you so much for your detailed instructions.

I had/have done all those steps and still no comment section shows up.

By the way, in Panels – Preferences, there’s no Discussion label. In the right side bar, there is Discussion label, but rather than ‘Allow Comments’, it asks to toggle on ‘Open’, of which I have/had done.

I had to progress therefore to your final suggestion : “Some WordPress themes disable comments visually even if they’re enabled in settings. If comments are still not appearing…”

I checked in the Theme File Editor – for both single.php and page.php and there is no phpCopyEdit included.

I’d be comfortable to add some code I suppose. But, how and what and where do I add code? If you’d be happy to provide clear instructions, I can do it. (It would be a big task to switch Theme now).

Hope to hear from you soon.

    Thanks again!

    Jenny.

    Hi Jenny,

I’ve checked the page URL you provided and I was unable to replicate the issue. I can see the comment section and I submitted one for testing.

    Here’s what I can see:

    Dear Rica,

My apologies for delay to respond. Thank you for checking it out and testing it.

In fact, only a day prior to your doing it I discovered by chance what’s happening: I decided to create a new post just to see if there’s any difference. And I realised that when the Page is a Default Template, the Comments Section appears, by default.

When the Page template is Elementor Full Width, (which is what I did for all my posts initially) even if proceed to the steps to enable Comments Section – via the side panel in WP Edit, under Discussion, choosing Open – the Comments section will not enable / appear.

Is this how it is meant to be? Confusing.

But, at least know I know that I should just leave page Template as Default, if I want to have Comments enabled.

Thank you very much for following this up!

    Kind Regards,

    Jenny

    Hi Jenny,

Thank you for your detailed update.

When you set the page layout to Elementor Full Width, it applies the Single Post Template from Elementor Theme Builder instead of your theme’s default template.

If you don’t have a properly configured Single Post Template in Elementor Theme Builder, or if you don’t have Theme Builder activated, this can cause conflicts that prevent elements like the Comments section from displaying correctly.

The Default Template uses your theme’s standard post layout, which includes all the typical post elements like comments by default. The Elementor Full Width template, however, relies on Theme Builder templates to define what appears on the page.

To continue using Elementor Full Width while having comments appear, you would need to either activate Elementor Theme Builder and create a proper Single Post Template that includes a Comments widget, or stick with the Default Template as you’ve discovered.

Your solution to use the Default Template when you want comments enabled is perfectly valid and the simplest approach for your needs.

    Kinn regards,
