Cant enable file uploads

    Hi – I am running the latest version of WP , and was trying to have a play around with the Gallery mod for it. I have noticed that I do not have file uploads enabled. When I try and enable it, it shows up in the WP-Admin screen as enabled, but does not actually enable. There are no new buttons, or form fields as there should be. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

    In 1.2, Uploads is a section all of it’s own in the main menu at the top of the screen.

    What permissions have to be set on the file upload directory for it to be writeable by WordPress. I have set the group to be user of the Apache process and set the group permissions to be +rw.
    Wordpress responds that it lacks the permissions

    777 – it will presumably only have images in, so 777 will be fine, you could try 755 or 766 too.
