• I have just done a localhost installation of wordpress and am getting a feel for how it works. I am using the twenty eleven theme.

I’ve figured out how to make a static homepage (using the option under Settings>Reading), but I want to customise this page further, firstly by removing the comments section. I assume that I should do this by using a custom page template, and I keep reading that the twenty-eleven theme has a file ‘front-page.php’ for this purpose.

But I cannot find front-page.php – it is not in the twentyeleven theme folder or anywhere else I have thought to look. Have I misunderstood something, or should front-page.php be there? Or am I supposed to create it myself? I tried reinstalling the theme but that did not help.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Pff… so I found the option to disallow comments in the ‘quick edit’ function in the pages section (why isn’t this option also in the main page editing screen?!?). So I’ve solved that issue.

But I would still like to know where my front-page.php is.
