Can’t find WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically option

The option WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically has disappeared from my dashboard. The Convert emoticons … option is also missing.

I thought these options might be suppressed by a plugin, but I tried systematically disabling all of my plugins, and logging in and out of WP, but it still didn’t appear.

I usually use Chrome, but I also checked my dashboard with Safari, and that didn’t help either.

I’m using WP 5.1 with the Genesis Framework Parallax Pro theme.

Can anyone help?

That setting is still under Settings > Writing as of WordPress 5.1.

It’s possible that a plugin or your theme is hiding it.

I don’t see it.. I have one plugin installed and I deactivated and still don’t see the option.

Does it appear if you switch to the Twenty Nineteen theme?

I used all WP default themes and still not showing up.

What is the URL of the site with the problem, are you an Administrator, and what version of WordPress are you running?

Thank you for responding.. I am admin.. right now its on local env.. but I get the same everywhere else.

Hm, maybe that setting is just gone for new sites.

Both WordPress 5.1, both admin.

I’m going to ask around as see if I can find something definitive on when and why this was removed.

Alright, now we know, this was added for new sites only starting with WordPress 4.3: https://core.trac.ww.wp.xz.cn/ticket/5161

The general philosophy is that 99% of the time you’ll want this on. In the 1% of the time you don’t want it, it’s because it’s conflicting with a plugin, and therefore it should be up to _that_ plugin to disable it.
