    Hi

Every time I try to finish the firewall optimization, a pop-up message appears saying: “The changes have not yet taken effect. If you are using LiteSpeed or IIS as your web server or CGI/FastCGI interface, you may need to wait a few minutes for the changes to take effect since the configuration files are sometimes cached. You also may need to select a different server configuration in order to complete this step, but wait for a few minutes before trying. You can try refreshing this page.”. I tried waiting few minutes but nothing changed. I am beginner with wordpress in general but i tried to fix it through manual configuration but my hosting provider wont let me change or acces my php.ini. Is there any way how to solve this problem ? Thank you.

Hi @jjcob, thanks for your question!

Rather than bombard you with potential fixes depending on the environment, you can find out which server you’re on quite quickly. In your WordPress dashboard:

    1. Go to Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics
    2. Scroll to Other Tests and click “Click to view your system’s configuration in a new window”
    3. In the new window that opens, look for the line labelled Server API

The value there (for example LiteSpeed, apache2handler, fpm-fcgi, or something IIS-related) will help us advise you further. If you can share that line with us, we can give you a precise next step.

    Many thanks,
    Peter.

Hi I have FPM/FastCGI written there.

    Thank-you @jjcob.

That setup should be using .user.ini for extended protection. I’ve seen a few cases in the past of hosts disabling certain PHP configuration options, but double-check our documentation for SiteGround, Pagely or Kinsta if you’re hosted with any of those: https://www.wordfence.com/help/firewall/optimizing-the-firewall/#firewall-optimization-setup

If that doesn’t help, please send me the output of your diagnostics page. Visit the Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics page again and click on “Send Report by Email”. Send it to  wftest @ wordfence . com. Please add your forum username where indicated and respond here after you have sent it as the inbox is unmonitored.

NOTE: It should look as follows – Screenshot of Tools > Diagnostic > Send by Email

    Thanks again,
    Peter.

    Hi @jjcob,

I can’t see a diagnostic in our inbox with your username attached. Is it safe to assume you’ve managed to resolve the issue with your host or do you still require assistance?

    Thanks again,
    Peter.
