I do not understand, why were you trying to access the Sucuri CloudProxy dashboard [1] if you do not have an account with us? You do not need to create an account if you just want to test the Sucuri WordPress plugin, you can even test it without the need to generate an API key.

If you still want to generate a key and keep getting that error message that says “[…] couldn’t connect to host” I recommend you to communicate with your hosting provider to troubleshoot that issue, ask them to send a simple HTTP request to this host “wordpress.sucuri.net” this is where the Sucuri API service for the plugin is being hosted.

As a side note, you do not need to whitelist any of our IP addresses because the plugin’s API service is not in the CloudProxy network, if you reverse the host “wordpress.sucuri.net” you will get this IP address “173.230.138.242” which is not part of the range associated with our firewall.

I think that wordpress.sucuri.net is what needs to be opened in my frewall. Gonna tell my hosting to open for it and see if it works.

    Cheers
