I am having some very strange issues on two of my websites One is a UK site and the other one is a US version of it, not multisite, just separate sites).

The issues I am having with the US site:
    – I can create feeds but when I try to view them I get a 404
    – When I click “refresh” it shows “Processing 0%” for a few seconds and then it just disappears and I still get a 404.

The issues that I am having with the UK site:
As soon as the plugin is enabled on the US site, the product feeds change on the UK site (Yes the UK site !!) and all the products have the wrong website URLs. (instead of the UK site URL they have the US site URL!!).

I checked the FAQ and I made sure that both sites have the correct domains in settings which they do. I am still waiting for ftp access to check if cron is enabled on the US site. Do you have any idea how these two sites can affect each others feeds? And why one of them is unable to generate them?

    Thanks

  • Hi adr05,

Thanks for using our plugin and reaching out to us. Sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with it. Let me try answering your questions:

    • 404 error: basically meaning there is no feed or the feed is not on the expected location.
    • US / UK site issue: when you have two completely separate websites, separately set-up and didn’t copy or migrate settings from one website to the other website it really shouldn’t be possible the two effecting each other.

My guess however is that you did somehow migrate or copy things over from one site to the other site which influenced your WordPress/WooCommerce settings and permissions including the path where files are saved (explaining the 404). Could this be the case?

    Hi,

I haven’t dealt with the hosting side of things so difficult to day. I can investigate though.

Are there any settings in WordPress, Woocommerce or the plugin that I can change from the admin dashboard that might fix this?

    Thanks

    Hi,

Hard to say when most likely things have been caused with migrations or setups of WordPress/WooCommerce itself but at least make sure that these settings make sense for your websites:

    All those are in order.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Unfortunately we are not. Apart from WordPress guidelines explicitly forbidding this we also don’t want to be at risk doing anything wrong to your WordPress installation or have access to information we are not allowed to. When the 404’s persist I suggest you either contact your host or you check your WooCommerce fatal error logs to see if it holds clues as to what might be causing this.

This tutorial shows where to find those fatal error logs:
    https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/finding-php-error-logs/

    Hope this helps.

I found out what the issue was, maybe this helps somebody.

The person who setup WordPress installations for the two sites had enabled the option to set a custom upload folder (this was done in wp-config.php). The folder was specified in “Settings -> media”. The two sites are on the same server and both of them had the same folder specified in those settings (the uploads folder of the UK site). Once this was rectified for the US site everything worked fine.
