If you delete the plugin from the plugins folder then that will automatically deactivate it and therefore if the plugin caused the error it should resolve.
Thank you, it worked. Now I just need to figure out how to require https to login…
Apologies for hijacking this thread, but it beats getting yelled at for starting one that’s almost identical but a little different X-D
I’m having a similar issue with Admin SSL, I installed it via the built-in Add New module in wordpress, and as soon as I hit Activate it sent me hurling towards the login page (Spa-lat!!)… I’ve tried all the “Reset” steps going as far as deleting the plugin, and removing all the SQL entries it adds to wp_options, but I’m still locked out of my admin area (every time I login the page simply reloads and an empty red box appears above the login form)… Any ideas where I should go from here? This project was meant to have been launched last night, but it’s now on hold until I can resolve this issue…
Thanks in advance,
Lee C
P.S.
Although I deleted all SQL entries added by the plugin, I’m unable to remove the reference to it inside the “active_plugins” table as every time I do the entire table disappears (I’m assuming this is a bad thing, right? :-/ ). I tried setting its autoload to “no”, but made no difference… I’m officially throwing myself at the mercy of anyone who can help because this has gone beyond ridiculous!!
Also, when I try to remove part of the reference to it (which appears as i:1;s:36:”admin-ssl-secure-admin/admin-ssl.php”;) I’m still locked out and some sections such as sidebars and some custom placed objects are removed… :-/
This issue now seems to have resolved itself… I can only assume that there’s a hidden “security” feature somewhere that prevents logins for a certian time frame, or maybe the server contains a black hole (X-D), either way I’m now able to login and access everything in the back-end…
I would however advise that everyone avoids using this plugin (Admin SSL) as it’s clearly highly unstable…!!
