• I am not new to installing WordPress. In fact I’ve set up four, two of those with my current hosting company. I’ve tried to install 3.0 and 3.0.1 and each time I get the message below:

    Error establishing a database connection
This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host’s database server is down.

•Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
•Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
•Are you sure that the database server is running?
If you’re unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host.

I tried editing the config.php file myself as well as set up a database manually through my host cpanel. Can someone help me out?

    Thanks.

That error is correct 99.9% of the time. Usually, either the DB_HOST is set incorrectly, or the database server is offline. Contact your hosting provider and confirm that the database server is online and that you’re using the correct connection information.

I am getting the same error message, and have also installed wordpress before so I know what I am doing.
