• Hello,

I am new to WordPress, so please excuse the resulting ineptitude. I installed Online Backup on a godaddy.com-hosted install of Word Press and tried to run a manual backup of the WP site in question. The event log for the backup attempt said “…the backup failed to initialise.” Shortly thereafter, I started noticing a particular malfunction on the site, itself, which I rightly or wrongly attributed to the backup attempt having done something to the live database. I now realize this was a premature assumption, and a possibly dangerous one when dealing with WordPress.

In any case, when the frontend browser navigation was not finishing certain link requests, I decided to log back onto WP-admin and to uninstall the Online Backup plugin. At this point I found myself locked out of WP-admin. So, in a moment of semi-panic, I manually deleted Online Backup from the plugins folder via my FTP client app.

Today, when I regained access to wp-admin, my plugin settings page showed a notice that Online Backup was missing. Seeing that wp admin had registered this warning (as opposed to losing all knowledge of its prior existence), I worried that this might cause problems later on. So, I decided to try to re-install the plugin, then to remove it using the admin panel in hopes that this method would overwrite any remnants of the first install and I could then cleanly uninstall the plugin from the control panel. Attempting this new install of the plugin, I received the following message:

    “Downloading install package from http://downloads.wp.xz.cn/plugin/wponlinebackup.2.2.3.zip…

Warning: touch() [function.touch]: Unable to create file D:\Hosting\3585339\html/wp-content/wponlinebackup.tmp because Permission denied in D:\Hosting\3585339\html\wp-admin\includes\file.php on line 177

Warning: unlink(D:\Hosting\3585339\html/wp-content/wponlinebackup.tmp) [function.unlink]: No such file or directory in D:\Hosting\3585339\html\wp-admin\includes\file.php on line 509
Download failed. Could not open handle for fopen() to D:\Hosting\3585339\html/wp-content/wponlinebackup.tmp”

    (END WARNING MESSAGE)
SO, before I can move on to troubleshooting the frontend problem I mentioned earlier, I would very much appreciate someone guiding me through how to completely uninstall any remnants of the previous installation of Online Backup, so that I can cleanly install Online Backup, should I decide to do so.

Thanks for any and all help.
