Can't install wordpress into root folder public_html

Hello everyone!

I am currently trying to set up a website for my friend.
I am using 123reg and am going through the very simple process of installing wordpress on her domain. For some reason i cannot install wordpress into the root folder.

I keep getting this error “There was a problem installing the requested script. Please make sure that the directory you are installing to is empty.”

The root folder is empty but still not letting me install.

Please help! I apologise if this question has been answered lots of times before but similar post i have looked at hasn’t solved my problem.
