    Hello,

I am brand spanking new to Word Press and have been trying unsuccessfully to upload a custom image for my header. I get this error:

The uploaded file could not be moved to /var/www/vhosts/domain.biz/httpdocs/blog/wp-content/uploads.

I tried placing the image directly into the theme folder, but that didn’t work.

    Thanks in advance

  • Try changing the permissions on the wp-content directory to 766. If you still have problems, try 767, 775 or 777. Once your uploads are working, change the permissions on wp-content back to 755 again and check that everything still works OK.

Thanks esmi, but that is so far above my paygrade I don’t know where to start. The link you provided just confused me more.

Thanks for the quick reply, though.

Did some more reading. Found how to alter the permissions through my FTP software.

Still can’t get it to load. Same error. Will tinker some more. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

    Solved the problem.

I had to add a folder named uploads into the wp-content folder then give the uploads folder 777 permissions. After uploading, I put it back to 755.

Also discovered you need to save your custom image as .png not .jpg or it will look really pixelated.
