Can’t Make New Posts “Publishing Failed”

    Whenever I attempt to publish a new Post or update a post, nothing gets published. Instead, I receive error message: “Publishing failed. The response is not a valid JSON response.” The same behavior occurs with updating or creating Pages as well.

    I played around with a few settings to see if this problem would go away. I changed the Permalink Settings from “Day and name” to “Plain”.
    These are not the Permalink settings I want, but I now have the ability to create new Posts and Pages, and update them!

    Has anyone encountered this behavior before? Is there another workaround? Thanks!

    I changed the Permalink Settings from “Day and name” to “Plain”.
    These are not the Permalink settings I want

    If “plain” works, then try reading Using_Permalinks before setting a custom permalink structure again.

    I’m not so sure that it’s custom- “Day and Name” is one of the out-of-the-box settings, I did not select “Custom Structure”. I did look at the Using Permalinks page, but there wasn’t anything in there that connects to our problem- nothing about publishing failed for JSON errors.
