My backups started failing a few days ago. I have two sites, and both are experiencing issues. So I logged in to UpdraftPlus and found that the connections weren’t good. I went through the instructions to recreate the connection keys, which worked. But then it says to paste the connection key in the dashboard, but when I try to go to the dashboard for either site I get a communications error: ‘Communications error – There was an error in contacting the remote site…”. So I have no way of pasting the key into the dashboard if I can’t connect. I hope you can see my problem. Any idea how to get around this endless loop?

    Thanks for your help!

    Eddie

    Hi,

    Apologies for the delay.

Next to the site in your UpdraftCentral , can you press the three dots >> site configuration

Under “connection methods”, can you select the option “via mothership_

I have a related issue, which isn’t being solved by the method above. I believe I need to ftp into my site to redo the htaccess file by renaming the existing one to something else and generating a new one. How do I determine correct ftp site for an updraft clone?
