• UPDATE: It’s working now, and I have revised my rating to a 4-star. See my second post below for how I resolved it, which may have created more work than I needed to do.

This theme is so damned frustrating, because it holds out so much promise. However, I have spent DAYS trying to just change the f*cking header color, and it won’t accept the changes. It’s random. When it did work a few days ago, I had to change the color in every POSSIBLE place, including for the top row, main row, bottom row, sticky header, transparent header, and so on. Now, it simply no longer accepts any change to the header color. I have uninstalled the theme to try reinstalling. However, the custom settings are buried in my wordpress database, and I can’t find all of them to remove them. I need an uninstaller so I can start over! This is very frustrating. I suppose I’m angry because I WANT IT TO WORK so badly. It’s an interesting theme that would allow so much customization. If the damn thing would just work.

  • Hey @stevation,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

If you install Kadence Starter Templates there are included options in that to reset just the theme settings. (ww.wp.xz.cn does not allow themes to include those settings as part of the theme which is why it’s in our starter templates plugin.)

As for where the options are stored, we use theme mods which is standard for themes. https://developer.ww.wp.xz.cn/reference/functions/get_theme_mods/

Regarding wanting to change the header color. We are happy to offer free support and would be more than willing to help you. If you simply create a support request I’m sure we can help you with what setting you need to change to define the header background color. I’ll note that it’s important to add a link when you create that support request so we can see what you currently have set, for example, there are background settings for standard, transparent and sticky header modes.

    All the best,

Darn, Ben, I’m really sorry for my rant, which was in the middle of the night and I was tired and frustrated. I ended up blowing up my database by deleting all entries that had kadence in them. I knew I’d lose work I’d done on it already, but I copied and pasted stuff to a Word file and came back and rebuilt it after reinstalling the theme and the starter pack. I was methodical when I came back to it and only changed colors in the transparent header settings, and now it is working fine. If there was a way I could have gone back to default settings without blowing up the database, that would have been good. Maybe reinstalling the starter pack would have reset the settings?

    Thanks for your kind reply.

    Hey @stevation,

As mentioned above you can reset to defaults in the customizer once you install the Kadence Starter Templates plugin.

This plugin is shown when you install the theme and suggested that you install it. Once it’s installed there are options to reset the customizer settings. You can import a starter site and that will change the customizer settings but that isn’t needed when you just want to wipe back to default.

I of course would prefer a reset be part of the theme but ww.wp.xz.cn does not allow themes to have this setting as part of the theme, that is why it’s in our starter templates plugin. I’ll also note that the Kadence theme works fine with the customizer reset plugin as well.

    All the best,

Oh, I really didn’t know there was a reset button. After you just told me, I went looking for it. Took a while to figure out it is under the import/export section of the customize screen. Wish I had known that when I was so frustrated! Thanks for your help.

Please feel free to reach out in the future if you are frustrated, we are always happy to help in the support forms. There are lots of settings and sometimes you just need someone to point you in the right direction.

    Ben
