Can’t resolve MaxMind GeoIP Database Issue

    Hi,
    Sorry if this has been asked before but I’m having issues trying to resolve my woo commerce issues. At first I had difficulty trying to keep products in my cart (which are still disappearing as soon as I put them in there) and then with all my Google searching I got directed to checking the woo commerce system status, which then showed me that the MaxMind GeoIP Database wasn’t working or in it’s words “did not exist”. I’m a big newbie here so just feeling really lost!!

    Hi Elle,

    Both issues, the vanishing products and the missing GEO IP database, sound like a conflict or missing database tables.

    I wrote a help article on how to check for conflict and similar common issue scenarios here: http://conschneider.de/how-to-check-and-resolve-conflict-in-wordpress-and-woocommerce/ – it includes a checklist which you might find helpful.

    I would also try a complete reinstallation of WooCommerce.
    **Also: Before you do that, please do make a full backup!**

    Hey. I am posting because I feel I need to give back. So from 1 newbie to another, here it is.

    Go to link in the error. http://dev.maxmind.com/geoip/legacy/geolite/
    There should be a table under section called “Downloads” with a bunch of Geo*** with columns labeled binary/gzip, binary/xy, CSV…..
    You need the .dat file which is the binary/gzip. column.
    Download it.
    Extract the file to a folder.
    Go to your CPanel for your provider (mines is HostGator).
    From the sidebar Goto Websites–> Domains.
    Select files —> File Manager and you should be able to follow the path of were they are telling you to put the file.
    Upload the file to that folder and that should resolve the error.
