Try deactivating all other plugins and switching to the default theme.
Unfortunately, it worked perfectly. It’s frustrating to know that a somewhat popular theme (Graphene) is not compatible with Contact Form 7, or at least on my site they conflict.

I have been having similar issues but I noticed that if you close the “generate tag” window things work out better. I am using Responsive theme.
Some tags are still giving me trouble, but it seemed a step ahead…

Ok, maybe there is a bug, maybe it is a conflict, anyway, I found a solution, but it is a bit elaborate.
Use the tag creation form, paste your codes, close the tag creation form. Go to the low email content field and copy the content of the whole field.
Save.
The left window should be fine, however, the lower email contact window will be empty, paste the content you copied before and save again. This time it should work…
