Sounds like a problem with your environment. Deactivate all other plugins and switch to one of the default themes and see if the problem persists. If it goes away, start reactivating the plugins/theme until you reproduce the problem again.

If the problem persists with no other plugins and the default WordPress theme, let me know, but I’ve never experienced this issue in my testing.

So it looks like it actually is something with the new theme that’s breaking it, though I have no idea how that could be. I’m using Baskerville. If you don’t mind giving me a general idea of where to start looking, I’d really appreciate it.

If I had to take a guess I’d say it was a jQuery issue, but that’s a shot in the dark. It does seem like a javascript-related thing though, since the media uploader is admin functionality that uses a lot of js. If possible, I’d suggest trying to reach out to the developer, see if they are aware of the issue, if there’s a fix/workaround and/or if an update exists that fixes the problem.

Barring that, the only thing I’d recommend is getting a new theme. Thing is, that functionality isn’t specific to the Book Review plugin — it’s the same functionality used on posts and pages and anywhere else you’re uploading files — so it’s not really something you’d easily live without. Keep in mind that all themes in the ww.wp.xz.cn repository go through a theme review process to ensure issues like these don’t happen, so any theme on ww.wp.xz.cn/themes should be okay to use with any plugin.

Okay thanks. Weird thing is that it’s only the book review upload that doesn’t work, all other post types with featured images are fine.

That’s odd. I’ll take a look at it when I get a chance to make sure I’m not doing anything weird. But there’s no custom uploader and afaik there’s no javascript being added by the plugin at all, so not sure why it wouldn’t work there but it would work other places.
