Can't update plugins with Godaddy
-
Hi!
Yesterday I updated to version 4.1 in hopes it would change something, but I can’t update plugins in my WordPress (hosted with GoDaddy) and I can’t even upload a template.
Is there a known issue with GoDaddy?
-
– how are you trying to update plugins? Manually? Automatically?
– how did you update WP? Manually? Automatically? From what version?
– you said “can’t even upload a template”. Do you mean theme?
– have you discussed these issues with your host?
– Have lately checked error logs on your server for a more specific error message?http://codex.ww.wp.xz.cn/Forum_Welcome#Include_as_much_information_as_possible
I try to update plugins and themes automatically and it doesn’t work.
I was able to automatically update WP from version 3.3 to 4.1 automatically
I did call my host (godaddy) but they have no idea yet as to what the problem would be.
It doesn’t give me any error messages… Here’s an example of what I do.
1. Click on UPDATES
2. I get to the page “WORDPRESS UPDATES”
3. Under PLUGINS I click select all, then click on UPDATE PLUGINS
4. Now that’s where the weird stuff happens, it never asked me this info before. I then get to a page CONNECTION INFORMATION that asks me HOSTNAME / FTP USERNAME / FTP PASSOWRD, once again it never asked me this info before. I enter the information, then click on PROCEED… and then nothing. The page refreshes and it’s blank with the text UPDATE PLUGIN on the top left corner of the frame.
Manual upload of theme seems to be working
also try manual updating of plugins
I had a issue with an old credit cars payment to go daddy. I paid it on the final grace date but the site was turned off.
upon their reboot thru godaddy nothing works…. only had a front page to my website. I tried to go in today and download a backup (i think I have one that would work) but when I did the download….. I tried to do an update for the new wordpress 4.1 and lost everything.
CANT EVEN LOG INTO MY DASHBOARD NOW.
I keep getting this fatal error.FATAL ERROR: Call to undefined function wp_get_current_user() in /home/content/68/7249468/html/wp-includes/capabilities.php on line 1356
I WAS TOLD BY GODADDY that they didnt touch anything and cant make the change on the PHP file but that I could log into godaddy and change it thru their system.
I HAVE NO IDEA what I am doing…… ANYONE out there that can help me???

Cant log into my dashboard…….
@backyardheirloomseeds – no one can help you in this thread, no. It’s not your thread. Please read over the Forum Welcome and then start your own:
https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting#postform@backyardheirloomseeds: I have the same issue on our website http://www.beneluxexpat.com. I turned off the debug mode in my wp-config to turn off those notifications.
I am trying to find the source of this problem. But it has to do with the limitation of Godaddy servers. Our server can have a maximum of 250.000 files and we are above it. It all started after we hit the 250.000 files.
I’m going to contact Godaddy within 1 hour and update my post when I know more.
This is 4-month old thread!
Please start your own thread. That way you stand a good chance of getting full attention to your specific issue. Despite any similarity in symptoms, your issue is likely to be completely different because of possible differences in physical servers, accounts, hosts, plugins, theme, configurations, etc. Thus one problem, on one setup is not indicative of the functionality and reliability of an application as a whole. So, please review how and where to post in this support forum: http://codex.ww.wp.xz.cn/Forum_Welcome#Where_To_Post
