can’t update template

    k each time I try to add something to my index.php file and go to update the template it gives me a 500 Internal server error. I posted in another thread that I need to have a certain code on my main page, but I can’t even try different things out that people have been so helpful to suggest. It won’t let me update the index.php template at all.

    What specific things have you tried to update? Are you saying that you can’t even upload the index.php file to your server?
    What version of WP are you working with? Could you post your code somewhere for people to have a look at?

    anyone have any idea why it would be doing this? …I was able to do the changes in the index.php file and then upload that file again to the server. but I still can’t play with the code through the template area without getting those errors.

    I really need some help figuring this out. It doesn’t matter what I try to add to the template, whenever I hit the update template button in the template & file editing area I get the same thing: internal server error. Even if I don’t try to add anything to the template and I just click on the update template button it does this. I don’t want to have to upload the file if I can help it. Anyone???

    try chmodding the file 777 and then try it.
    contact your host if its possible on your server.

    thanks Sushubh will ask them about it… if they figure out it’s not I’ll be back 🙂 …and btw chmodding it to 777 didn’t work either 🙁
