I really don’t understand why this is happening, especially since I used the exact same theme on my other blog and had no trouble uploading the header. http://food911.ceconn.com. For the record, that one is still 2.3.3, if that makes any difference.

But I digress. The message I get when trying to upload the new header to boy-scouts-canada is: Unable to create directory /home/cecon46/public_html/boy-scouts-canada/wp-content/uploads/2008/05. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

Sure, everything is writable. Why is this happening? I even emptied the cache. I am perplexed.

  • Are you sure it’s writable? It’s bellyaching because it cannot write to the proper directory. Just make sure that /uploads is CHMOD’d to 766 (I hate to recommend 777, but sometimes 766 just doesn’t work in some hosting environments).

Yes, everything is writeable. It must have something to do with 2.5.1 because no matter what theme I use, where I can upload my own header, all of them give the same message.

    Do you think that’s possible?

It doesn’t seem possible, but I’ve given up really believing THAT statement anymore. 😛

I just believe it has to do with permissions. Now, I do know that sometimes if you use an FTP client to CHMOD the folder/files, it “sticks.” Sometimes if you are doing it through your cPanel’s file manager, it doesn’t. So maybe that is making a difference? I’m at a loss otherwise.

Wait a minute. Maybe it has to do with images. There are issues with folks not being able to upload images from the posting area in WP 2.5… It has to do with adding some code to your .htaccess file. Let me find that thread.

Pay particular attention to Item 6 here:

I have the same problem as rikkidegraz, start from WP 2.5 until WP 2.5.1, still the same problem. I already try all the solution on that topic but still it doesnt work for me. Any fix on that? Please help…
