    Hi,

I’ve created a special user-role for a photo-author; this role has all the capabilities for RE-gallery, except creating a new gallery. This role works well, except from changing the gallery-lay-out. The gallery is created by an other admin.
I tried several other capabilities(rights) and found that de the capability edit-posts(other)(private) gives the right capability, but off course also the capabilities of viewing / editing posts.
I think, in the capabilities-structure of RE-gallery there should be an adaptation, so only RE-Gallery-capabilities should do the work

Awating your response, kind regards and of course thanks for the beautiful plugin

    Hi @theokonings ,

Thank you for your detailed explanation and for testing different capability combinations.

We have reviewed the behavior and can confirm that Re Gallery currently follows the standard WordPress capability model. Galleries use WordPress’ built-in ownership logic, meaning:

    • Users can edit their own galleries with regular edit permissions.
    • Editing galleries created by others requires the “edit others” capability.

This is the default WordPress behavior and is working as expected.

At the moment, Re Gallery relies on the core WordPress capability structure rather than defining a fully separate capability set. We understand your point about isolating Re Gallery permissions from standard post permissions, and we appreciate this suggestion.

We will consider this as a potential architectural improvement for future versions.

Thank you again for your thoughtful feedback and kind words about the plugin.
