    Hi all,

I had been using the Simple Captcha plugin, but I upgraded to WordPress 2.9.2, and Simple Captcha no longer works. I went looking for a Captcha plugin that works with 2.9.2, and found that most captcha plugins in the plugins directory say “compatible up to 2.8.5”, or something like that. I did find one that says it’s compatible with 2.9.2. It’s called Buhsi Captcha. I installed it, but I’m not seeing any captcha in my comments form. In the Buhsi settings page, I see this error:

Warning: imagettfbbox() [function.imagettfbbox]: Could not find/open font in /home/cgalassi/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/buhsl-captcha/evg/evgCaptcha.php on line 204
    Error in imagettfbbox function

I did some research and found some indications on the WWW that this might be due to not having the PHP GD extension and FreeType installed, but I’ve checked the server and both the GD extension and FreeType are installed.

Any ideas how to get Buhsi Captcha working? Is there another captcha plugin that is compatible with 2.9.2?

    Thanks,
    Ryan

    YES
    Try si-captcha-for-wordpress
Plugin Ver 2.5.2 works for me while using WP 2.9.2
It works for WP 3.0 RC1 and 3 also but I have other issues there.

It works very well – Almost totally killed spam-bots. One got through in the last week or so.

I recommend using Akismet at the same time. Make sure you have Akismet enabled and the Akismet key registered.

No CAPTCHA can be 100% if you are targeted with human spammers.
There are captcha farm services that use real humans to manually enter the spam. The labor is ridiculously cheap.

I installed Mike’s SI Captcha. The captcha interface is showing on my comment forms, but the captcha image isn’t showing up. The image looks like what you get in a browser when the img src is incorrect.

I am running PHP 5.2.9. GD is enabled. phpinfo() says the GD version is “bundled (2.0.34 compatible)”. The FreeType version is 2.2.1. Everything in the GD section of the phpinfo is enabled.

Any ideas why the image doesn’t show up?

    Thank you!

    Here’s a page with a comment form:
    http://www.funeralprogram-site.com/blog/customer-testimonials/

The plugin is currently deactivated, but here’s what the captcha HTML looks like when it’s activated: http://pastebin.com/YDAThvT1

Also of note, I’m getting a “you do not have sufficient privileges” page when I click on the settings link for this plugin. This despite being logged in as an admin. I don’t get that message when I click on the settings links for other plugins.

I would need to see the site while the plugin is installed.

My issue has been resolved. It was a permissions problem on the server. The plugin is working.
