    Hello,
    I started using this Fancybox plugin many, many years ago, but after a major update (version 3.0?) it broke all my captions and I switched to another plugin that displayed them without having to make changes to the captions, as there are many images.
    On the same site two weeks ago, I recently had issues with the other plugin and switched back to Fancybox for WordPress.
    Today after updating to version 3.3.6 my captions are a mess again: unreadable and covering part of the image. I have rolled back to version 3.3.5 to keep the captions working. I assume you made some changes in the code that inserts the captions.

    Multiple line captions are worse. Can you throw any light on this issue.

    Hello @malae,

    It looks like the older Twenty Eleven theme causes the caption problem. That theme doesn’t fully work with some of the newer code used in the latest FancyBox update. When you tried a newer theme like Twenty Nineteen, the problem went away, so the theme seems to be the main issue.

    For now, it’s fine to keep using Fancybox version 3.3.5; there are no known security problems with it. Just keep in mind that in the future, if WordPress or other plugins are updated, the older version might not work as well.

    Hello Beatrice,

    Thank you for your reply. Yes the problem seems to be with the theme even though it is from WordPress. The site is not commercial and the content is cultural with many photographs and texts including scripts which are not Latin, so it would be a lot of work to rebuild it. I would like to keep using Fancybox and have tweaked the captions and they work fine with version 3.3.5. I will take a look at the theme and perhaps can find a way to fix the compatibility problems with version 3.3.7 and put in the child theme.
