That sounds odd. Do you know if your donors are getting a specific kind of error at all? Do you know when they are being rejected in the donation process?
It’s possible it’s related to the fact that you are not loading your site with an SSL certificate over HTTPS. PayPal has started transitioning to only accept payments over HTTPS.
