Categories don’t work properly

Hello!
I’m a bit surprised because this forum only has one comment and no one replied … so now I think I must have choose the wrong pluggin . In my case, the portfolio option is not shown in settings and there is no way to assign categories. And if they can’t be assigned then you can’t choose what to show. can you help me?
