Categories missing after updates

    After I’ve updated my wordpress to 2.91 no categories are shown. But in the dashboard there are 14 categories shown. When I try to create a new categorie, with the name of an existing one, the message that the category still exists, is displayed.

    Does anybody know, what’s going wrong with my installation?

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-related problems?

    Yes, I’ve tried this long before I posted my problem in this forum. And my error starts at the admin page. There is no category available. And when I try to create one with a name, I had used before, a message is displayed, that the category still exists.
    When I try to create a category with a new name, I can’t see the category after creating it.
