you can try https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/wp-htaccess-control/
it can remove CPT base taxonomy slug.
before URL is https://www.yourdomain.com/products-cat/solar-water-heaters/solar-collectors/
in Remove Taxonomies and Author Base section, the last item is Remove Products-cats Base, choose it and save.
i test it works.

Redirecting your URL’s is not a reliable solution. This must be done within wordpress system (database). There are costly plugins, which work perfectly, but there are other drawbacks – like loading speed, configuration, possible conflicts. I’ll move back to Joomla with next project, where similar problems just dont exist. But, unfortunately, Woocoomerce doesnt exist there either.
