categories without posts in Internet Explorer browsers
-
I’m making a separate thread of this because I cannot find one that matches my issue exactly. Here goes:
I have a category with 2 subs that have their own child cats set up. I use the main cat to list the others along the left side (as navigation, using wp_list_categories tag) and in the main area with the category description that gives the site visitor a link (the cat_name) and a definition (the cat desc)
This all works just fine. In Firefox, clicking either the link in the category list or the link in the cat name takes you either to that category’s post using category.php OR (when no post(s) exist for the cat) to index.php where the name and description are still displayed but a message that says “more about [cat] coming soon!].
However, in Internet Explorer browsers, when no posts exist, both the side navs and the main content area links take you to a 404 page not found. But, if you use your back button to return to the main page and click the VERY SAME LINK again, it DOES take you to that page.
This doesn’t happen in Firefox (mac or win) or opera or safari… Just in IE 6 OR 7 windows.
Any ideas anyone? I don’t think this was happening until just recently. I’ve not updated the wp install (it started as 2.2 and I’m not quite ready to make the 2.3 leap yet) but there’s no telling if IE has auto-updated. BTW, I am not the only one experiencing it.
I’d love to know where to look. The URL is krootlaw.com/category/injury-resource-center/
try it in IE and Firefox. Click Birth Injury (which has a post) and Brain Damage (which doesn’t). Have you ever seen this? Know of a fix? I’m sure I could simply put in a blank post and the problem would go away, but that is not a real fix.
Your help greatly appreciated!
