Category Descriptions not using the HTML

I’d like to display some additional text using the category descriptions. I’m trying to add some formatting in HTML to the text but it doesn’t seem to be doing anything.

I’ve tried just putting a [img src=”url”] at the start of the description and a few [b][/b]’s to see if I could get it to display anything but the output on the page doesn’t have any of it.

I’ve got Show Cat Description checked, and it does display the description… just not any additional markup.

Any ideas?
